Offerings for Youth 2011-20112
★ 7th and 8th Grade ★
Our middle school youth will begin the Neighboring Faiths curriculum, one of the older UU sources but a well-loved tradition among this age group. They will explore various world religions, including an experiential component as they make mini-pilgrimages to various religious sites in the Boston area, such as the Buddhist temple, the Hindu temple and a mosque. Seventh and eighth graders are welcome to participate. They will be responsible for selecting a faith tradition to research and for presenting their research to the group.
Classes meet every other week. On the weeks the youth do not have class they are strongly encouraged to serve the church in a volunteer capacity, such as serving as an assistant in Children’s RE or collecting offering. If they do not volunteer, they are strongly encouraged to attend service with their parents.
★ 9th and 10th Grade ★
The Coming of Age program begins in October. This program meets approximately every other week on Sunday evenings, and the purpose of this program is to facilitate youth faith exploration and build connections between the youth and the church community through shared activities. I can let you know when the parent's meeting is scheduled--that will be a great opportunity to get more questions answered.

Youth in 11th and 12th grades are invited to take part in the congregation in a variety of ways. IN particular, they are actively invited to work with the younger children in RE, as this is a fantastic way for youth to develop their leadership abilities and personal faith journeys while providing service to our congregation.
All youth are also welcome to join in on social action and service projects, attend and take part in regular worship services. For organizing an older youth activity such as movie nights, book discussions, attending district events, and so on, see Shelley Dennis, DRE. To “sign the book” and become a member of the congregation, see Rev. Stower.
