First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church
Meet Bob McKetchnie!
He is the 37th settled Parish Minister to serve here at First Parish since the parish was founded in 1651. Bob is a second career minister having graduated Andover Newton Theological School in 2000 after spending eighteen years in the Financial Data Processing industry.
Prior to coming to First Parish in September of 2001, Bob served for two years as a student intern at the Follen Church, UU in East Lexington, MA and one-year at the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry (UUUM) in Boston where he worked to connect suburban parishes with the work that UUUM does in the inner city. He also served as a hospital chaplain at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester during 1997.
Bob grew up in Jamaica Plain, MA and has seven sisters and three brothers. He currently resides "next door" in Holliston with his wife of 30 years, Janet and their twin sons Ryan and Gregory.
Meet Jeanette Ruyle!
Jeanette Ruyle has been the Director of Religious Education at First Parish since 1999. What began as a love for volunteering in religious education classes with her children grew into a career as a professional religious educator.
Jeanette holds a graduate degree in mental health nursing and worked in this arena for 14 years before making the change. In 2006, while working for First Parish, she finished a Master of Arts in Religious Education at Andover Newton School of Theology.
She and the Rev. Bob McKechnie work together in striving for religious education at First Parish to be "lifespan" -- for persons of all ages-- because they believe that people keep learning and spiritually developing all their lives. Jeanette focuses on the programs for children and youth, and Bob on programs for adults and they collaborate on inter-gnerational worship services.
